The Rajasthan Board has made major changes to its board exams, modeled after the CBSE. According to details shared by Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar on X, board exams will be conducted twice from this session (2026). The first stage of exams will be held in February-March, which will be considered the main exam. After the results of the main exams are released, re-exams will be held in May-June.

All students must participate in the main exams.

Important rules for the second stage exam.
Students who pass all subjects will be able to take the exam to improve their scores in any three subjects.

Failure-free or supplementary exams will also be able to re-take the exam for three subjects.

Best of 2 principle will apply.
Students appearing for both exams will be subject to the best of 2 principles, meaning the highest score in both exams will be considered final. If a student fails the exam even after taking it a second time, they will be given a chance to appear in the main exam next year.

Decision taken to reduce pressure on students
The Rajasthan Board and the government have described this decision as historic. According to a tweet by Education Minister Madan Dilawar, "From the next academic session, Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education examinations will be conducted twice a year.
The first exam will be compulsory for all students, while passed and supplementary students will have the opportunity to improve their scores by taking a second chance exam in a maximum of three subjects. Both exams will be based on the entire syllabus, and the best marks will be considered in the final result. This system will prove to be a meaningful step towards more opportunities for students, less exam pressure, and better results."
