IPL 2025: Why is Jake Fraser-McGurk missing from today's match?

The revenge week of the Indian Premier League is finally here. The ongoing thrilling clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has left fans on edge, while, as DC is batting first, fans question why Jake Fraser-McGurk has been dropped for today’s match.

Despite an excellent debut IPL season the previous year, Jake proved himself with his consistent performances. Not only that, but he also managed only 55 runs in six innings this season, with most of his scores in just single digits.

Meanwhile, the coach of Delhi Capitals, Hemang Badani, has expressed confidence in Fraser-McGurk’s ability to bounce back, focusing on his potential as a match-winner.

Why did the team opt for a change for this crucial encounter?

In a surprising twist, the team has opted for a change in the playing XI for this crucial encounter. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first.

GT skipper Shubman Gill said that they will bowl first, as the weather is too hot, but the wicket looks pretty good. “So we will see what the target is and hopefully chase it down. Yeah, definitely, if we don’t keep grass, the wicket will crack up. It’s important to have a little bit of moisture in it,” he said.

The call to bench the Australian batter is likely due to his underwhelming run in the tournament. As per MyKhel, in seven outings, Fraser-McGurk has managed only 55 runs, crossing the ten-run mark just once, a 38-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Along with this, Jake has also been dismissed for zero on two occasions. Meanwhile, even though Jake has been named as one of the impact sub players, it is very unlikely that he would get a chance.

A look at the lineup between GT vs. DC

Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, KL Rahul (w), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (c), Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohit Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar.
