Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 4 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Vishvas Sarang slammed Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi over his statement in Colombia, saying that the latter once again showed his childishness.
Minister Sarang also accused the Congress leader of tarnishing the nation's honour on foreign soil, stressing that it amounts to treason.
"Rahul Gandhi has once again shown his childishness. Travelling abroad and tarnishing the nation's honour in this manner amounts to treason. Rahul is forgetting that when he goes abroad and gives interviews as the leader of the opposition, he should remember that it is because of this democracy and system that he has become the leader of the opposition. Yet, he is not mature, behaves childishly all the time," Sarang told ANI.
He further said that the Congress leader bakes his political bread in India and with the same ill intent, he tarnishes the honour and dignity of the nation on foreign soil as well.
"I believe Rahul Gandhi should give up this childishness. The way he has commented on the BJP and the RSS, he seems to forget that the BJP government has always enhanced the pride and prestige of the country... RSS is such a non-political organisation that has always lifted the honour of the nation. Rahul Gandhi does not know the truth, you only speak scripted stuff. You can not imagine the contribution of RSS for the nation before and post independence," the Minister said.
"Rahul Gandhi should show some maturity, and the baseless remarks he makes about India while abroad comes in the category of treason," he added.
Speaking at an event at EIA University of Colombia, Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at the Narendra Modi government, asserting that the biggest challenge India is witnessing is the attack on its democracy.
"India has strong capabilities in areas like engineering and healthcare, so I am very optimistic about the country. But at the same time, there are also flaws in the structure that India has to correct. The biggest challenge is the attack on democracy taking place in India," Gandhi said.
The Congress leader argued that the democratic system remains crucial for diversity, allowing different traditions, customs, and ideas, including religious beliefs, to thrive. However, he added, the democratic system in India is under attack, which is a "major risk" or threat.
"Currently, there is a wholesale attack on this democratic system, and that is a major risk. Another big risk is the tension between different conceptions in parts of the country. With 16-17 major languages and many religions, it is crucial to allow these diverse traditions to thrive and give them the space they need," he added.
Gandhi also attacked the RSS-BJP duo, saying that "cowardice" was at the heart of their ideology.
"This is the nature of BJP-RSS. If you notice a statement of the foreign minister, he said, 'China is much more powerful than us. How can I pick a fight with them?' At the heart of the ideology is cowardice," the Congress leader said. (ANI)
