In an attempt to reach out to more customers this festive season, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, Amazon India has created more than 150,000 seasonal work opportunities across its network of fulfilment centres, sort centres and last-mile delivery stations, up from 110,000 job opportunities last year.
These seasonal jobs include direct and indirect work opportunities in more than 400 cities across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore, Raipur, Jalandhar, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Anantnag and Jalgaon, according to a company statement.
Among these, Amazon India has created opportunities for thousands of women associates as well as more than 2,000 persons with disabilities in its network. It has already onboarded the majority of the new associates, in preparation for the festive season, the e-commerce company said.
“This festive season, we continue to be focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India,” said Abhinav Singh, vice president - operations, India & Australia, Amazon. “Many of these people continue their journey with Amazon beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning to work with us year after year.”
As part of its commitment to support the well-being of associates in e-commerce networks in India, Amazon has implemented a range of initiatives including the expansion of Ashray rest centres to 100 nationwide in 2025. The company also has a health and well-being initiative providing free health check-ups to more than 80,000 delivery associates across major cities. This initiative brings essential healthcare directly to last-mile delivery stations, offering comprehensive services including eye, dental and physician consultations.
Among other benefits, the company has the Early Access to Pay programme, which allows associates to withdraw up to 80% of their accrued basic salary between the 1st and 20th of each month. Associates working at Amazon India sites get two days off every week. Additionally, all associates are entitled to mandatory holidays, optional holidays, annual leaves, sick leaves and casual leaves, as per applicable laws.
The company has fulfilment centres spread across 15 states, offering more than 43 million cubic feet of storage space for seller inventory, and sortation centres in 19 states along with a network of close to 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations. Besides, it has 28,000 'I Have Space' partners and thousands of Amazon Flex partners, who deliver to customers across the country, the statement said.
