From 200 kg to 86 kg: How a girl from his past led to 114 kg weight loss. His strict diet and exercise routine

Send Push
Jas Mathur, an Indian-origin entrepreneur, once weighed over 200 kg with a 68-inch waist. Despite achieving early business success, including selling an online venture at 16 and saving his first $1 million by 21, he felt a stark contrast between his professional accomplishments and his personal health. A high school reunion became the catalyst for change.

As revealed in an interview with Health Shots, cited by HT, living in Vancouver, Jas wanted to reconnect with old friends from Montreal, including a girl he hoped to impress, but he felt embarrassed by his physical condition. Around the same time, a new Porsche 911 Turbo purchase brought another jolt: he couldn’t even fit in the driver’s seat. These experiences pushed him to take decisive action for his health.

The Struggle at His Heaviest
At his peak weight, daily activities were a challenge. Walking short distances, finding comfortable clothes, or traveling on an airplane became difficult. Jas recalls that the physical limitations were only part of the struggle, as his size also affected his confidence and social interactions. He realized that his personal discipline hadn’t matched the determination he applied to his businesses, and that insight became the foundation for his transformation.

Diet and Exercise Routine
Jas began by focusing on a strict diet and cardio. Initially, he could barely manage a minute on the treadmill, but his commitment never wavered. In the first three months, he lost over 88 pounds. His early diet involved sub-1,000 calories daily, including boiled chicken and steamed vegetables, with no sugar or nearly any carbohydrates. For a brief period, he even consumed only distilled water to reset his body. He later adjusted his diet to focus on performance, emphasizing lean proteins, complex carbs, healthy fats, and portion control, while moderating sugar and processed foods.

Exercise evolved alongside his weight loss. Jas started with simple walking, light weights, and basic cardio. Over time, he incorporated strength training, high-intensity interval training, boxing, mobility work, and structured recovery routines, such as stretching, ice baths, and active rest days. Today, he trains like an athlete, enjoying the freedom and energy his transformed body provides.
