India to develop Vande Bharat 4.0, high-speed corridors for future exports: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday announced the development of Vande Bharat 4.0, the next-generation version of India’s flagship semi-high-speed train. The new trainsets will be designed with a focus on meeting export demand, marking a significant step toward positioning India as a global supplier of modern rail technology.

Vaishnaw said the government is also planning to develop dedicated high-speed passenger train corridors, similar to Japan’s bullet train network. These corridors will be designed for a maximum speed of 350 kmph, enabling faster and more efficient intercity travel across major routes.

The minister said the Vande Bharat 4.0 project will combine advanced engineering and passenger comfort features, aligning with India’s long-term goal of becoming a hub for rail innovation and exports.
