Send Push
The world of Harry Potter continues to captivate generations, from readers of the original novels to fans of the blockbuster films. Now, HBO is bringing the Wizarding World back to life with a new television series, promising a fresh adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved seven-book saga. As the series begins production, anticipation is building among fans eager to see how the magic of Hogwarts will be recreated for a new generation.

Beloved actor Warwick Davis is returning to Hogwarts to reprise his role as Professor Filius Flitwick in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Davis, who portrayed both Flitwick and the goblin Griphook in the original films, will now focus solely on Flitwick, while Leigh Gill, known for Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux, will take on the role of Griphook, as per Variety.

New Cast Additions
The series is introducing fresh talent to the Hogwarts faculty and student body. Sirine Saba will play Herbology Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden will portray the ghostly Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan is cast as Madam Poppy Pomfrey. On the student side, Elijah Oshin joins as Dean Thomas, with Finn Stephens and William Nash as Draco Malfoy’s companions, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.

Slated to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2026 or 2027, the series is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on Succession, alongside Mark Mylod as director and executive producer. Laura Neal, writer for Killing Eve, is also part of the creative team. Filming is underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same studio where the original films were made, with production expected to continue over multiple years for a long-term adaptation.

Anticipation and Reactions
Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the casting news, particularly the return of Warwick Davis. While excitement is high, some from the original film team, including director Chris Columbus, have expressed curiosity about how closely the new series mirrors the original films, noting similarities in costume and set design. Columbus clarified that his comments reflect pride in his original work rather than jealousy.
