Everyone adores a warm, sunny day, but when darkness falls, cooling down for a comfortable night's sleep can be a challenge. If your bedroom remains hot even with the fan on, it's likely that dust is trapped between the fan blades.
Fans covered in dust not only appear dirty, but the accumulation also hinders blade movement and air circulation, leaving you feeling hot at night. However, Lynsey Crombie, a cleaning guru known as the 'Queen of Clean', has revealed that getting a fan working properly is incredibly simple - all you need is a makeup brush.
Lynsey stated: "The most effective way to clean the stubborn dust out from your fan is to use a recycled make up or paint brush."

Makeup and paintbrushes are ideal for dust removal, as they can reach into the narrow spaces between fan blades that other cleaning tools, such as cloths or sponges, cannot access.
Water and cleaning sprays should never be used on fans, as they can easily drip onto the electric motor and cause damage, reports .

However, a soft-bristled makeup brush can safely and effectively remove dust from hard-to-reach areas in less than five minutes.
While it might be tempting to use a hairdryer or vacuum to clean a fan, these methods can blow air into the fan's internal components, potentially causing electrical problems.
Lynsey added: "A hair dryer blast or the vacuum nozzle just doesn't cut it when the dust is thick and clung onto the grates and blades."
First things first, ensure the fan is unplugged and switched off before you start cleaning.
Opt for a clean, small soft-bristled brush like a foundation blush brush – anything larger might be too harsh on those delicate fan blades.
Simply angle the brush and gently sweep away the dust from the blades.
Lynsey advises: "When cleaning the blades you don't want to bend them so the brush is perfect for pushing away the dust and won't cause any damage."
Don't forget to give the fan's exterior a good brush down to banish any lingering dust. If the grill cover is detachable, pop it off for a quick wash – just make sure it's bone dry before you power up the fan again.
In mere minutes, your fan will be dust-free and working its magic to keep your room blissfully cool.
