Banish condensation from your windows with 1 morning chore every day

Condensation is seriously annoying, but it's a "lucky" problem to have, according to one woman, because it means you're in a comfortable home with the heating on when it's cold outside.

Amy Lynch shared condensation on her windows was a "big issue" for her before she started doing one task every morning without fail.

"I used to worry, is it because we're an old house, is there something wrong with our windows? But do you know what, it's actually a lucky problem to have if you wanna look at it like that. It means that your house is warm, outside is cold, and it's just simple science," she explained.

So, how does condensation happen? It occurs when warm, moist air cools down, causing water vapour in the air to turn into liquid water droplets. This typically happens when warm air comes into contact with a cold surface, like a window, a wall, or even a bathroom mirror. This is why you notice it in winter, because you've possibly turned your heating on so it's warm inside, but cooler outside.

It can happen to any house, whether it's new or old, and Amy said even her friend, who is "in a beautiful new build home," has condensation on her windows.

But, thanks to Amy's window vac, she no longer has to worry about the condensation on her windows, because every single morning she just cleans it off.

She said she "loves" the window vac because it banishes the condensation, meaning you can actually see out of the windows.

However, she doesn't stop there. She also ensures she "opens the windows every day" even though it can get bitterly cold outside, and she also runs a dehumidifier which has "changed things up" for her.

This way, all the condensation is "drained from all the rooms," and it means she's not panicking about the issue.

Amy then referred to it as a "very normal problem for normal houses and nothing to be embarrassed about".

In the comments, others shared their hacks for banishing condensation, writing: "Leave your window a crack and get those disposable dehumidifier pots."

However, some suggested her windows may not be sealed properly, saying: "That's just a case of windows not being sealed correctly lol I never have moisture on my windows in the morning."

Another said she recently had "new windows" and "this doesn't happen anymore".

One man wrote: "Ireland is a damp country. Really, we should have mechanical ventilation as a standard! You're 100% correct, it's an air circulation issue."

A woman shared: "I'm such an adult, I got a window vac for Xmas too. But it's been so helpful rather than wiping windows down and just transferring damp to a towel. We have dehumidifiers too, and keep the window open a little."
