A five-year-old boy has died in hospital after a wall collapsed at a crazy golf venue. The incident occured at Family Golf on Sidcup Bypass, London, on Sunday.
A six-year-old girl was hurt in the shocking incident but has since recovered and been discharged from hospital. Meanwhile, a witness reported that a young boy suffered a head injury when the wall collapsed and fell on him. The boy was immediately taken by London Air Ambulance paramedics, where he remained in a life threatening condition for three days. It has now been confirmed that the boy has tragically passed away in the hospital.
A spokesperson for Sidcup Family Golf said: "We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
"We are co-operating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation and are providing every possible support to those affected by this tragedy."
American Golf, a store inside the centre, was quickly shut down by police, who sealed it off with tape and secured the premises right after the wall collapsed.
The venue has been closed today due to the incident. It website reads: "Sidcup Family Golf is closed today following an incident on site. Our thoughts are with those affected. We appreciate your understanding at this time and will share further updates when appropriate."
A spokesperson for the firm previously said: "We are concerned to report that a child was injured at Sidcup Family Golf on Sunday afternoon around 5:45pm. Our first priority was ensuring they received immediate medical attention.
"We are cooperating fully with emergency services and investigating what happened. Our thoughts are entirely with the child and their family at this time."
A Met Police spokesperson told The Express: "Police were called at 17:44hrs on Sunday, 9 November to a business premises on Sidcup By-Pass, Chislehurst to reports a child had been injured by a collapsing wall.
"Officers attended and paramedics were treating a five-year-old boy. He was taken to hospital by the London Air Ambulance in a life-threatening condition.
"Sadly, he died in hospital on Tuesday, 11 November. His family are being supported by specialist officers and ask for privacy during this difficult time.
"A six-year-old girl was also injured and has since been discharged from hospital.
"Enquiries are ongoing and officers are working with the Local Health and Safety Inspector."
