Cat Deeley is reportedly feeling uneasy about her return to This Morning as speculation mounts about why her marriage ended. In July, the 48-year-old announced that she had split from husband Patrick Kielty after 13 years of marriage. The TV host and comedian, 54, who share sons Milo, nine, and James, seven, insisted that "no other party" was involved in their breakup.
According to an insider close to Cat, she has no plans to discuss her personal life on air when she reunites with co-host Ben Shephard. "Cat feels anxious ahead of her first day back after announcing the bombshell news of her split during her break," the source revealed. "She has decided NOT to mention the breakdown of her marriage on screen and instead wants to keep the chatty dialogue between her and Ben upbeat and positive for viewers."
The presenter is struggling with nerves following weeks of online trolling and accusations from her ex's family, who allegedly blame her for the breakup.
"She has been hurt that people who don't even know her have judged her for not attending her mother-in-law's funeral in March," the source told The Sun. "Even people from within Patrick's family and inner circle who don't know her well have criticised her for that and made out that it was the reason for the split when that couldn't be further from the truth."
Her absence from the funeral left deep emotional wounds within the Kielty family, who say it confirmed their belief that any chance of reconciliation between the two was unlikely.
The insinuation that she's responsible for the end of the marriage has reportedly been distressing as the insider added: "Cat is generally a really positive person but it hurts her to have people piling the blame onto her when this is a painful situation for them both."
Despite the strain, both Cat and Patrick have emphasised that their priority remains co-parenting their children.
Their joint statement read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated.
"There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment."
Cat and Patrick, who met when they appeared as co-presenters on the show Fame Academy in 2002, were last seen in public together back in April of this year, when they enjoyed a spring holiday in the sun with their children.
