Everton fans fume at 'absolute shambles' at new stadium and demand £190 refunds

A number of Everton supporters were left disappointed during their side's opening Premier League match at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend. Nevertheless, the Toffees went on to mark their inaugural clash at their new home in style with a 2-0 win over Brighton.

After a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds United, David Moyes' side were keen to respond to ensure that the Seagulls did not spoil the party on Sunday - and they passed the test in flying colours.

Everton weathered the early Brighton pressure before Iliman Ndiaye gave them the lead from close range after good work from Jack Grealish down the left. James Garner then put the game to bed after half time with a sweet strike into the bottom corner to leave Bart Verbruggen with no chance.

However, not all Everton fans were pleased with the victorious afternoon. Those sat in the Club View Hospitality section were left unhappy with the service they received throughout Sunday's match given they paid £190, in some instances, for each ticket, with some taking to social media to lodge complaints.

One supporter wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "That Club View is an absolute disgrace. Never in my life could I not get served at Goodison. No chance with this Club View. Spoke to stewards who admitted it is atrocious and asked/encouraged to complain. Blamed American catering company."

Another added: "It's carnage. It doesn't have the infrastructure for everyone to spend their tenner. Either spend your tenner or watch the whole game. You can't do both. Staff haven't got a clue what's going on. The club need to admit they made a mistake, give everyone £190 back and bin it off."

A third supporter wrote: "Absolute shambles in there. They've learnt nothing from the Roma game. There is nothing premium about it at all. The only space with only one catering outlet. And not allowed anywhere else in the stadium. Still looking for our dedicated private bar."

One Everton supporter went on to speak about how they felt there were a significant lack of staff in the allocated area, concluding: "I genuinely can't believe they've built a near billion pound stadium n still have one fella pouring one pint at a time, there's machines that can do six pints at a time n you just have someone swapping the trays around."

Those seated in the area will be hoping that the issues on Sunday were simply teething problems, and that further positive performances on the pitch will give them more reasons to celebrate.
