wound up after the as he called for the Mercedes man to be punished for his . Russell and Verstappen touched tyres with fewer than three laps remaining, with the Dutchman ultimately handed a 10-second penalty as he was demoted to 10th.
Verstappen went off the track in the closing stages after the race had resumed following a late Safety Car. The four-time world champion, who thought he had been impeded by Ferrari star Charles Leclerc moments earlier, appeared to gain an advantage over Russell following the manoeuvre and was told by his team to cede his position to the Briton. He refused, however, and the pair came together as Russell attempted to move past his rival on a corner.
Former world champion Nico Rosberg demanded race officials slap Verstappen with an immediate disqualification for his actions. And the stewards sided with Russell as they penalised Verstappen.

Discussing his own race, Norris went on to state: "My race was very good today and the team had a great one-two. I was happy with my pace. It was just too difficult to follow [Piastri] around the track like this."

Verstappen attempted to avoid speaking about the incident during his post-race interview with the F1 broadcaster after being asked if the contact was intentional.
"Does it matter?" he demanded. And after being pushed for an answer for a second time, he hissed: "Yeah, okay. That's great. I prefer to speak about the race rather than one single moment."
He then explained: "I think we are way too slow to fight for the title, that was clear again today.
"We tried to do a three-stop and that was quite good but we also needed it because we had quite a bit of degradation on the tyres.
"Unfortunately, the Safety Car came out at the end and we ran out of tyres to use and the hard tyre was not the right tyre.
