A lookalike of the tech guru turned heads while on a night out in Aberdeen, rocketing to viral fame after being mistaken for the business magnate. Hugo One, hailing from Luxembourg and moonlighting as a singer, reported being continually confused for the man at the helm of SpaceX and .
The 28 year old recently encountered boisterous recognition during an outing with friends, where he was bombarded by shouts of "you're Elon Musk" from an awestruck group. Capturing the moment on camera, the onlookers "couldn't believe" Hugo wasn't the billionaire CEO.
Regularly accosted by passersby pointing out his striking resemblance to Musk, Hugo admits that a handful of daring individuals have even requested selfies with him.
Musk, aged 53 and serving as a senior advisor to the , is more famously known for launching SpaceX, steering Tesla, and acquiring X, the company formerly recognised as Twitter.
Despite the buzz and "unwanted attention" his famous features bring, Hugo remains unswayed by his doppelganger status and intends to maintain his current style. Hugo openly expressed his views: "They were the fifth group of people to stop me that night - I was exhausted."
He added, reflecting his disdain toward the comparisons: "I don't take it as a compliment to be compared to Elon because he's not a nice person. He's also not at all good looking. But I took it as a laugh because they were a nice friendly group of lads. Plus, it's created some great traffic to my page and people are downloading my songs."
Hugo, who once taught English and French in Berlin, Germany, first drew comparisons to Elon Musk in 2018 after a student pointed out the resemblance. He admits that he often receives comments about his physical similarity to Musk a couple of times a month, but is grateful that he hasn't faced any negativity because of it.
During a road trip with university friends around Scotland in April 2025, Hugo experienced deja vu in Aberdeen-the city where the group originally met-when he was told he looked like Musk four times in one night, and then again by three men later on.

Exhausted from the repeated comparisons, Hugo said: "At this point, I was tired, and it had already happened four times before," but he chose to see the humorous side of the situation. After sharing the encounter on social media last Friday, the video exploded with over 1.5 million views, with many viewers concurring and commenting "that is Elon Musk."
Reflecting on the unexpected viral attention, Hugo remarked: "I thought it would get a fair few views but nothing of this scale. On Saturday, I woke up and it had 70,000 views and now it has over 1.5 million." He maintains a light-hearted stance on the matter, adding: "As long as people know I don't align with Elon or his beliefs, I don't mind. It probably won't be the last time either."
