Salford crash horror as boys, 16 and 17, die after motorbike smashes into car

Two teenage boys have died after a tragic crash in Greater on Thursday evening. An investigation is underway after the two victims, aged 16 and 17 and believed to be riding on the same motorbike, were driving through Salford at 8.20pm when they collided with a silver Vauxhall Viva.

Pictures from the scene near River Road Primary School showed a tactical aid unit in attendance over night, while debris was scattered inside the cordon. It appears the boys were attempting to turn from Lower Broughton Road onto Clarence Street when the crash happened. Emergency services raced to the scene moment later, but both boys were later pronounced dead in hospital despite the efforts of medical staff.

Greater Manchester Police says the families of both victims are being supported by specialist officers as an investigation into the incident continues. The 24-year-old female driver of the stayed at the scene to assist officers, while no arrests have been made in connection with the boy's deaths.

Detective Sergeant Matt Waggett, of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a heart-breaking and upsetting incident where two young men have sadly lost their lives and our thoughts are with their families.

"Our investigation continues so we can give them the answers they deserve. This is still an active investigation, and we are looking for anyone who has any information regarding the incident to come forward and get in touch with us."
