Attendance Allowance is supporting nearly state pensioners suffering from arthritis in the UK. An estimated 20 million people across the country have arthritis or other similar conditions that affect the joints but many may not be aware they can claim financial help.
Pensioners with arthritis could receive hundreds of pounds a month from the Government through one particular benefit. Attendance Allowance is provided to people who are of State Pension age or older. It helps with extra costs if you have a disability or health condition severe enough that you need someone to help look after you.

It's paid at two different rates and how much you get depends on the level of care that you need because of your disability or health condition.
You do not have to have someone caring for you in order to claim and you could get £72.65 or £108.55 a week, reports Chronicle Live.
This tax-free benefit is not affected by savings or income and is paid every four weeks which means someone on the lower rate will receive £290.60 every pay period while those on the higher rate will receive £434.20. However, it's important to note that this benefit does not cover mobility needs.
New figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show there are now nearly half a million people across Britain receiving Attendance Allowance for arthritis, making it the most-claimed health condition by people over State Pension age, reports the Daily Record.
Arthritis is the most common disabling condition - an umbrella term used by the DWP to cover a multitude of health conditions.
The condition typically causes stiffness, swelling, pain and inflammation in a joint and accounts for more than one-third (35%) of all of the 1.6 million claims for Attendance Allowance.
Across Britain, an estimated 20m people have arthritis or other, similar conditions that affect the joints, so if you are living with arthritis, back, joint, muscle or chronic pain, you could be eligible for support from the DWP through the benefit.
