2025 has seen a multude of TV shows drop on various streaming platforms. With the debut of Overcompensating, the return of The White Lotus, and the BBC's adaptation of Mix Tape, sticking out as some of my personal highlights, it's been a superb year for TV.
TimeOut has created a list of the 44 "Best New TV Shows and Streaming Series of 2025 (So Far)", and here we are digging a little deeper into the top five. Here are the best five series of the year so far - and where to watch them.
Comedy series The Studio is created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. It stars Rogen alongside Catherine O'Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn in supporting roles. The Studio debuted in March of this year and has been renewed for a second season. The series synopsis reads: "Matt Remick is the newly appointed head of Continental Studios; desperate for celebrity approval, he and his executive team at the movie studio must juggle corporate demands with creative ambitions as they try to keep movies alive and relevant."

4. The PittThe Pitt is a medical procedural drama television series created by R. Scott Gemmill, and executive produced by John Wells and Noah Wyle. It is Gemmill, Wells and Wyle's second collaboration, having previously worked together on ER. It stars Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez. The series synopsis reads: "A realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania."

3. Severance (Series 2)Popular psychological thriller, Severance, follows the lives of employees who have chosen to have a procedure that means their work memories are separated from their personal memories, supposedly to create a better work-life balance. The "Outies" (employees in the outside world) and "Innies" (those who work at Lumon Industries) have completely separate lives. The show explores themes of identity, the human condition and control. Severance stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Sarah Bock.

Adolescence is a one-shot crime drama series that focuses on a 13-year-old boy, Jamie Miller, after he is arrested for the murder of his classmate, Katie. The series explores the impact of this event on Jamie, his family, and the wider community, while also covering themes of toxic masculinity, social media influence, and the challenges of navigating adolescence in the digital age.

1. Andor (Season 2)Andor is a science fiction political spy thriller drama television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and a prequel to the film Rogue One (2016), which itself is a prequel to the original Star Wars film (1977). The series follows an ensemble cast primarily centred upon thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor. The series synopsis reads: "The story of Rebel spy Cassian Andor's formative years of the Rebellion and his difficult missions for the cause."
