An 'underrated' hidden gem in the UK is thought to be so beautiful that it looks like something out of a ' movie.'
The UK is full of pretty towns and villages that are not well known, as well as scenic places of natural beauty. From quiet seaside areas to forests and woodlands, there's a range of spots you can visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
One such place is Arundel Castle, located in Arundel, West Sussex. The castle is surrounded by peaceful , complete with fountains and pots of .
Overlooking the River Arun, it was built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel. During the Civil War (1642-45), the castle was badly damaged but it was restored and remodelled in the 18th and early 19th centuries by Charles Howard, the 11th Duke of Norfolk.
Today, visitors can explore the castle and the grounds to find out more about the of this historical English gem. It is one of the largest inhabited and complete castles in England, according to Arundel Castle .
A TikTok user posted a short clip on the platform giving a glimpse of the beauty of the castle and described it as an "underrated gem in the UK." Viewers were impressed and compared it to Disney.
One said: "That's stunning, it looks like it should be in a Disney movie. Another added: My first thought was Frozen cause it's called Arundel."
The Disney movie Frozen focuses on sisters Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from the land of Arendelle. A third TikTok user commented: "Wow! I didn't know [the] UK had such places. Time to visit!"
A fourth chimed in with some appreciation: " I am so lucky to live close by. I go every year, it's gorgeous there."
Visitors can explore a "wonderful variety of landscapes and environments," including the quirky Stumpery, the formal Collector Earl's garden and the Glasshouses, with "explosions of colour" and "delicate aromas" to take in, according to the .
During the 18th and 19th centuries the defensive castle was transformed into a grand stately home for the Dukes of Norfolk and you can wander through the state rooms, the "individually decorated bedrooms with Victorian and Edwardian bathrooms", the Fitzalan Chapel, found in the castle gardens, and more.
There are also "glorious gardens to explore with surprises around each corner" and Arundel Castle Gardens has been shortlisted for the Historic Houses Gardens of the Year Award 2025. A range of events will be held at Arundel Castle this year, including medieval festivals, history days and a six day medieval jousting tournament in late July.
