“Always Good To….”, KL Rahul Makes A Post For LSG Fans After Snubbing Sanjiv Goenka

The Indian cricketer KL Rahul made a powerful return to familiar territory, guiding Delhi Capitals to a convincing eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in their 2025 IPL faceoff on Tuesday. Playing on the same ground he once called home, Rahul showcased his class with an unbeaten half-century that helped his new side chase down the target comfortably. His 57 not out came off 42 balls and included some authoritative strokes, finishing the match with a six that carried more than just runs — it carried meaning.

This was no ordinary game for Rahul. The match marked his first appearance in Lucknow since parting ways with the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. His exit had followed a disappointing season for LSG, which ended without a playoff berth and sparked conversations about internal issues. Although Rahul had led the team to playoff finishes in two of his three seasons as the captain, his departure wasn’t without controversy.

The tension between Rahul and the LSG team owner Sanjiv Goenka had been widely speculated after LSG’s underwhelming 2023 campaign. While Rahul opted for a change, seeking what he described as a more relaxed and open environment, Sanjiv Goenka later clarified that the team was reshaped with a focus on players who, in his view, prioritised collective success over personal ambition.

Following the win, Rahul’s brief and somewhat distant post-match handshake with Sanjiv Goenka did little to hide the unease between them. Yet, it was on social media that Rahul chose to reflect more openly. Sharing a series of moments from the match, including a striking image of him celebrating by pointing to his name on the back of his jersey, Rahul simply wrote that it was “Always good to be back in Lucknow.”

In a past interview, Rahul had hinted that his decision to move on stemmed from a need for personal growth and a healthier team atmosphere. While he didn’t go into detail, his words suggested a desire for renewal, one that now seems to be paying off in his performances with Delhi.

As for Lucknow, the shift in personnel and leadership philosophy appears to be part of a larger strategy, with Sanjiv Goenka reiterating the franchise’s focus on a winning mindset and team-first culture.

But on this particular night, it was Rahul’s calm presence and sharp batting that made the loudest statement — without needing to say much at all.
