On the occasion of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ’s centenary on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote an extensive blog titled "100 years of national service."
In a post on X, PM Modi shared the blog and said: "A hundred years ago, on the day of Vijayadashami, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was established with the aim of social service and nation-building . Over a long period, countless volunteers have dedicated their lives to realising this resolve. I have tried to express my thoughts on this in words."
PM Modi marked the centenary of RSS with a detailed tribute, praising its 100 years of service and nation-building. He described the Sangh as a “virtuous incarnation” of India’s eternal national consciousness, recalling how it began on Vijayadashami under founder KB Hedgewar. PM Modi said RSS volunteers had dedicated themselves to social service, education, women’s empowerment, tribal welfare and relief work during crises. He likened the Sangh’s influence to a river that nurtures everything it touches, noting its role in fostering patriotism, preserving traditions and awakening self-respect in society. PM Modi also highlighted the model of shakhas that, for generations, have shaped volunteers by guiding them from ego to selflessness.
The prime minister also praised the RSS for standing firm during the freedom struggle and later challenges. He commended its efforts in fighting discrimination and untouchability, recalling the teachings of past leaders who championed social harmony. PM Modi said the RSS’s work with tribal communities, disaster relief, and dedication to “Nation First” remain vital today. He welcomed its roadmap to address modern challenges such as demographic change, family values and environmental protection, calling the centenary a proud milestone for India.
