NEW DELHI: After Udaipur Files — a film based on the Kanhaiya Lal murder case — released on Friday following legal clearance, the slain Udaipur tailor’s son brought his father’s photograph to the theatre to watch the movie.
A video shared by news agency ANI showed Yash Sahu entering the theatre with the framed photo, which he later garlanded and placed on the seat beside him.
Speaking to reporters, Sahu stressed that the film was not aimed at targeting any faith.
"I appeal to the people of the country to watch the movie and understand what happened to my father on June 28, and how the roots of terrorism are working in the country. This does not oppose any religion or hurt the sentiments of any community," he said.

Sahu added that his mother remained "too emotionally affected" to watch the film.
“A seat will be reserved for my father’s soul in the theatre, and his photo will be placed there,” the youngster added
Udaipur Files, starring Vijay Raaz, recounts the events of Kanhaiya Lal’s killing in June 2022 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The release has been closely followed by his family, who have openly supported the project.
Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in broad daylight by two men allegedly enraged by a social media post in support of BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who had been suspended from the party over her remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
