NEW DELHI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay on Tuesday released a sombre video message three days after the Karur stampede that killed 41 people, saying that his heart is full of "pain." The TVK leader expressed sorrow over the incident, saying that it should not have happened and hoped to visit Karur soon.
In the video message, he also raised questions over the FIR filed against TVK leaders and questioned, "Is the CM trying to take revenge?"
'Pain in my heart'
"Namaste to everyone. I have never faced such a painful situation in my life. The only pain in my heart is pain itself. The reason so many people come to see me on this tour is the love and affection they have for me. I am deeply indebted to them for that love and affection," he said.
"That is why, beyond everything else in this tour, the safety of the people, and the thought that no compromise should be made, is very close to my heart. That is why I have avoided all political reasons," he added.
Further, Vijay claimed that he had requested the police department to choose a safe place for the tour.

I have only kept the safety of the people in mind. I have carefully chosen the places for that purpose. I asked for permission for 10 places and requested the police department accordingly. But what should not have happened has happened. I am also a human being.
Vijay wishes to visit Karur
Talking about the incident, Vijay said that the incident has affected everyone and wishes to meet the survivors soon.
"When everyone is affected at such times, I cannot leave. Even if I wanted to go back, I knew I would have to go to some other places. I also know that no matter what they say, it will not be a solution. The people who are being treated in the hospital should get cured soon. I will meet all of you as soon as possible," he added.
Vijay, in his message, also thanked his friends and political parties who extended support to him. "At this time, I would like to thank all the politicians, political parties, friends, leaders, and everyone who understood our pain."
Vijay drops bomb on Stalin government
He further dropped a bomb on the Stalin government, questioning the FIR on TVK leaders and is the chief minister trying to take revenge.
He added that the people are watching everything and they know the truth. "Soon, all the truth will come out," he said in the message.
